McLaren driver Lando Norris secured his first Formula 1 victory with a stunning win at the 2024 Miami Grand Prix, surpassing Red Bull's Max Verstappen to claim the top spot on the podium. Initially, Norris held the sixth position while his teammate Oscar Piastri showed early promise. However, the deployment of the Safety Car mid-race worked in Norris's favor, especially after he strategically delayed his pit stop.
When Norris reentered the race, he took the lead, with Verstappen relegated to second due to his earlier pit stop under green flag conditions. Although Verstappen attempted to regain the lead on the restart, Norris held firm and gradually pulled away.
With Verstappen struggling with balance issues, Norris delivered a composed and masterful performance, finally overcoming the disappointment of his close call at the 2021 Russian Grand Prix. This victory came in his 110th race, marking a milestone achievement in his Formula 1 career.
McLaren delivered an exceptional performance at the 2024 Miami Grand Prix. Oscar Piastri surged to P3 right from the start, while Lando Norris dropped one position. Oscar then climbed to P2 by overtaking Leclerc on Lap 5. The race dynamics changed with a loose bollard causing a Virtual Safety Car, allowing Oscar to advance to P1 and Lando to P3 as others pitted.
Oscar pitted for hard tires on Lap 28, followed by Sainz, which temporarily elevated Lando to P1. A lap later, a Safety Car was deployed due to an incident involving Magnussen and Sargeant. Lando took this opportunity to pit for hard tires himself, rejoining and maintaining his lead after the restart.
Meanwhile, a fierce battle for P4 ensued between Oscar and Sainz, resulting in contact and damage to Oscar's car. This forced Oscar to pit again on Lap 41 to replace his front wing and switch to medium tires, dropping him to P19. Despite the setback, Oscar fought back to finish P13. Lando held his position at the front to cross the finish line in P1, securing his first-ever Grand Prix victory and highlighting a dramatic and successful race day for McLaren in Miami.
Ferrari experienced a mix of strategic timings and on-track battles. Charles Leclerc had a slow start but held onto second place initially, with teammate Carlos Sainz in fourth. By lap 5, Oscar Piastri overtook Leclerc. On lap 20, Leclerc opted for hard tires during a swift pit stop, rejoining the race in sixth place. Shortly after, he managed to overtake Lewis Hamilton, climbing to fifth.
A Virtual Safety Car period on lap 23, caused by a bollard on the track, briefly hindered Leclerc, while Max Verstappen's pit stop led to Piastri leading the race, and Sainz moving up to second. Sainz then pitted for hard tires on lap 27, returning to the race in fifth. A lap later, a Safety Car was deployed due to a collision between Kevin Magnussen and Logan Sargeant, a moment that could have favored Sainz had it occurred just a lap earlier.
In the later stages of the 2024 Miami Grand Prix, Sainz overtook Piastri to secure fourth place by lap 40. The race concluded with Leclerc in third and Sainz in fourth, marking a solid but slightly frustrating outing for Ferrari, considering the timings of the race interventions.

Aston Martin had a mixed performance with Fernando Alonso managing to score points, while Lance Stroll faced challenges. Stroll started the race in 11th place and Alonso from 15th, each opting for different initial tire strategies; Stroll on Mediums and Alonso on Hards.
Alonso had a strong start, gaining three positions on the opening lap. Stroll made his sole pit stop at the end of lap 11 to switch to Hard tires. The race dynamics changed significantly when a Safety Car was deployed on lap 28. Alonso took this opportunity to pit for Medium tires, which proved advantageous. In contrast, Stroll had already pitted before the Safety Car period, which compromised his strategy.
In the latter part of the race, Stroll demonstrated aggressive driving with several overtakes, but a penalty relegated him to finish in 17th place. Alonso, on the other hand, capitalized on his strategy to finish in 9th place, ensuring another points finish for Aston Martin in Miami.
