The Performance Vehicle of Texas award is a prestigious honor presented by the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA), a respected organization made up of automotive journalists, media professionals, and industry experts primarily based in Texas. This award is part of TAWA’s annual Auto Roundup—a multi-day event where members gather to test, evaluate, and compare a wide range of new vehicles across different segments.
The award is designed to spotlight the top-performing vehicle that excels in dynamic capability, power delivery, handling, and overall driving excitement. It recognizes cars that push boundaries in performance engineering, road feel, and driver engagement, often focusing on sports cars, supercars, and high-performance variants. This made the McLaren Artura Spider the clear standout, delivering a masterclass in engineering, design, and sheer driving exhilaration.

President of McLaren Americas expressed his thrill: “We are thrilled that the Texas Auto Writers Association has named the McLaren Artura Spider its 2025 Performance Vehicle of Texas. The Artura Spider showcases the full range of McLaren attributes, including distinctive design, unrivalled performance, dynamic excellence and engineering innovation, and to have it recognized by a group of media in our home state is particularly special.”
The McLaren Artura Spider boasts an advanced and meticulously engineered chassis that forms the backbone of its remarkable performance and agility. Expect MCLA carbon fibre monocoque with aluminum front and rear frames and chassis structures.
McLaren calls the 2025 Artura Spider the most "fuel efficient" convertible it's ever made, and it does live up to it. Under the hood, a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 seamlessly integrates with an E-motor hybrid powertrain, generating a combined output of 691 horsepower. This potent pairing propels the supercar from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.0 seconds, with a top speed of 205 mph, blending sustainable engineering with breathtaking speed.
Powering the E-motor is a 7.4 kWh battery, comprised of five lithium-ion modules. This setup offers an all-electric range of up to 21 miles, ideal for short, emissions-free drives. When it’s time to recharge, the battery can reach 80% capacity in just 2.5 hours, making it as practical as it is thrilling.
