Performance figures can tell you what a Porsche is capable of, but understanding how that performance feels from behind the wheel is another experience entirely. For the past decade, the Porsche Experience Center Los Angeles (PECLA) has given drivers the opportunity to explore that connection through hands-on instruction in a controlled environment.

PECLA opened in Carson, California, in November 2016 as Porsche’s second Experience Center in the United States. The 53-acre complex combines a Driver Development Track with Porsche Motorsport North America, dining, a Simulator Lab, vehicle delivery experiences and spaces dedicated to events and the Porsche brand.
To mark its tenth anniversary, PECLA will host Decade of Drive on Sunday, October 18, 2026. The public celebration will feature iconic Porsche sports cars, live entertainment, guest speakers, family-friendly activities and ten special activations inspired by the people, stories and passion that have shaped the center. General admission is complimentary, although select experiences may require advance purchase. More about the anniversary here.

A major part of PECLA’s appeal is its focus on driver development. Its track features eight modules designed to demonstrate different aspects of vehicle dynamics, including a 1.3-mile Handling Circuit, Low-Friction Handling Circuit, Ice Hill, Dynamics Pad and Off-Road Circuit.
With guidance from Porsche Drive Coaches, drivers can work on techniques such as braking, cornering and vehicle control while learning how a Porsche responds to different inputs and surfaces. Rather than simply reading about engineering and performance technology, participants can experience those characteristics firsthand.
PECLA also offers programs for different experience levels and goals. Current options range from standard Drive Experiences and customizable programs to the more comprehensive Porsche Driving Academy Program, Porsche Owner Experience and Young Driver Experience for licensed drivers ages 16 to 21.

PECLA was designed to be more than a track. Visitors can explore the Simulator Lab, dine at Restaurant 917 or the Speedster Café, attend special events and even arrange a New Vehicle Delivery that combines an in-depth vehicle walkthrough with a 90-minute driving experience and lunch at Restaurant 917. That combination helps explain PECLA’s place within the larger Porsche story. It gives enthusiasts and owners a setting where the relationship between driver, vehicle and performance can be experienced rather than simply described.
Ten years after opening its doors, PECLA continues to connect Porsche engineering with the people behind the wheel. The anniversary celebrates that history, but the center’s lasting value remains its ability to help drivers better understand the vehicles through instruction, practice and experience.
