The Porsche 911 GTS goes hybrid

The 911 goes hybrid with the 2025 Porsche 911 GTS, featuring a newly engineered 3.6-liter engine. The electrically driven turbocharger and the transmission's electric motor are coupled with a lightweight and compact high-voltage battery. This battery, comparable in size and weight to a traditional 12-volt AGM starter battery, stores up to 1.9 kWh of energy (gross) and operates at 400 volts. It is strategically placed under the front hood, where the previous 12-volt battery was situated. To enhance weight distribution, a lightweight lithium-ion 12-volt battery has now been positioned behind the parcel shelf in the rear.

The new boxer engine in the 2025 911 Carrera GTS alone produces 478 hp and 420 lb.-ft. of torque. When combined with the hybrid system, the total output reaches 532 hp and 449 lb.-ft. of torque. This marks a significant increase of 59 hp over previous 911 Carrera GTS models. The new 911 Carrera GTS particularly excels during acceleration from a standstill, showcasing its enhanced capabilities. The performance-oriented hybrid system boosts performance without the substantial weight gain often seen in traditional hybrids. In fact, the U.S. curb weight of the new 911 Carrera GTS Coupe has only modestly increased by 103 lbs compared to its predecessor, maintaining a lean profile while improving power and efficiency.

Optimized suspension and active aerodynamics

The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS suspension has undergone comprehensive upgrades, enhancing its handling and stability.
