The 911 goes hybrid with the 2025 Porsche 911 GTS, featuring a newly engineered 3.6-liter engine. The electrically driven turbocharger and the transmission's electric motor are coupled with a lightweight and compact high-voltage battery. This battery, comparable in size and weight to a traditional 12-volt AGM starter battery, stores up to 1.9 kWh of energy (gross) and operates at 400 volts. It is strategically placed under the front hood, where the previous 12-volt battery was situated. To enhance weight distribution, a lightweight lithium-ion 12-volt battery has now been positioned behind the parcel shelf in the rear.
The new boxer engine in the 2025 911 Carrera GTS alone produces 478 hp and 420 lb.-ft. of torque. When combined with the hybrid system, the total output reaches 532 hp and 449 lb.-ft. of torque. This marks a significant increase of 59 hp over previous 911 Carrera GTS models. The new 911 Carrera GTS particularly excels during acceleration from a standstill, showcasing its enhanced capabilities. The performance-oriented hybrid system boosts performance without the substantial weight gain often seen in traditional hybrids. In fact, the U.S. curb weight of the new 911 Carrera GTS Coupe has only modestly increased by 103 lbs compared to its predecessor, maintaining a lean profile while improving power and efficiency.

The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS suspension has undergone comprehensive upgrades, enhancing its handling and stability. For the first time, drivers will get rear axle steering as standard equipment, which sharpens the vehicle's stability at high speeds and tightens the turning radius for improved agility. Additionally, the optional Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) integrates with the high-voltage system of the performance hybrid. This integration allows for an electro-hydraulic control system that increases the system's precision and adaptability. Complementing these enhancements is the standard sport suspension equipped with adaptive dampers (PASM) and a lowered ride height by 10 millimeters compared to the standard 911 Carrera.
Inside, the new 911 marries its classic design ethos with cutting-edge technology through the Porsche Driver Experience, which enables intuitive and swift management of essential driver-centric functions. Strategically positioned on or adjacent to the steering wheel are vital controls including the standard drive mode switch and an updated control stalk for operating assistance systems. A novel addition to the 911 is the start button, now conveniently located to the left of the steering wheel for the first time. Further enhancing utility, the center console’s storage compartment is equipped with a cooling feature for smartphones with a convenient charging area, merging functionality with modern convenience. Additionally, the 12.6-inch curved display seamlessly blends into the updated operating and display concept, offering extensive customization to suit the driver’s preferences.
