The Rimac Nevera set a world record by reaching an incredible speed of 171.34 mph (275.74 kph) at the Automotive Testing Papenburg facility in Germany last year. The Rimac Nevera's record-breaking feat exceeded the prior benchmark for the highest speed achieved in reverse, previously held at 165.08 km/h (102.58 mph) by Darren Manning (UK) in a Caterham 7 Fireblade in 2001. By shattering this 22-year-old record, the achievement underscores not only the advancements in automotive technology but also emphasizes the distinct advantages electric vehicles have over their combustion engine counterparts in specific performance metrics. Additionally, the Nevera has already established over 20 records in acceleration and braking, showcasing its exceptional capabilities.
