Volkswagen has already said the new 2024 ID. Buzz will make short- and long-wheelbase passenger variants with five and seven seats, respectively.

And there’s an in-the-works ID. Buzz Cargo van variant that also has two wheelbase lengths.

Volkswagen has also confirmed a VW ID. “California” camper based on the ID. Buzz and a futuristic self-driving vehicle meant for ride-sharing industrial fleets.

The German automaker says it is looking at creating an electric pickup for the United States. Volkswagen’s chief designer posted an illustration of the electric truck on Instagram, and U.S. media reported that VW is mulling over building such a vehicle in the U.S.

Volkswagen chief designer Klaus Zyciora posted a rendering of an ID. Buzz pickup truck and Volkswagen Group of America CEO Scott Keogh later said it would be “the chance of a lifetime” to build it. Keogh told the media that the electrification of trucks is a “reset moment” that will gain traction among many brands.

Inside EVs website reports that the new pickup truck would clearly be a lifestyle pickup and not meant for work due to the fact that the bed is quite small. This electric van has plenty of room for friends, pets, and luggage – and a variety of ways to use the interior. The Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo’s battery capacity starts at 48 kWh and can be increased to 110 kWh, according to Car and Driver.

The innovative VW van features a highly adaptable three rows of seats that can be spun around, laid down, or removed completely if you’re hosting your own be-in. This means you can sleep in it, eat in it, chill in it. The movable center console slides forward and back on a track and contains a table. And somehow designers even saved room for a trunk.

Best of all, with an impressive range and charging stations going up all over the place, you don’t have to worry about running out of power. Or paying for gasoline. The batteries provide driving ranges of 200 and 340 miles, respectively. Those who plug into a DC fast charger will attain an 80 percent charge in about half an hour.
