Bentley has launched what it says may be the most advanced seat ever fitted to a car in the form of the optional Airline Seat Specification.
The new seating option was recently introduced in the Bentayga Extended Wheelbase model, known as the Bentayga EWB rear seats.
Among other things, the Bentayga EWB rear seats can even cool you down if you have a fever. We’re not kidding. For starters, the rear seat of the uber-lengthy version features 22 ways of adjustment for its bolster, cushions, headrest, and more.
There’s also an electrically deployed footrest, a postural adjustment technology, and an automatic climate sensing system that makes sure all temperatures are set to perfect at all times. Together, these combine 12 silent electric motors and three intelligent pneumatic valve ECU units, according to the British automaker.
The postural adjustment technology in the Bentayga’s rear seats was created with the help of an actually licensed chiropractor and is intended as an “anti-fatigue” system, according to Bentley.
Pneumatic valves in the seats are guided by algorithms and apply 177 pressure changes to the passenger’s body ranging across six independent pressure zones. This relieves stress by soothing tense body tissues and encourages the passenger to adjust their posture, removing discomfort on longer trips.

According to Bentley, the Bentayga EWB rear seats also have an intricate automatic climate sensing system that is “40 percent more efficient” than manual heated/ventilated seat controls found in most cars.
You never have to worry about being too cold or too hot. The automatic climate sensing system can detect changes in temperature and humidity in 25 milliseconds. And it has an accuracy of 0.1°C, applying heat, ventilation, or both at the same time to maintain the desired temperature.
The same system offers the option of seven comfort levels, but studies show that 75-80 percent of people will set it in neutral mode.
Interestingly, the Bentayga’s rear seats even have a mode designed to cool you down if you have a fever!
Bentley notes that half of Bentayga EWB buyers choose to invest in the Airline Seat specification, which is a premium option.
Overall, the system is designed to soothe tense muscles and encourage those in the car to correct their posture, thus easing back discomfort – especially on longer road trips.
