Don’t call it a Ferrari SUV.

While many may refer to it as a Ferrari SUV, the Ferrari Purosangue is better described as a “sports vehicle,” according to the Italian automaker.

It’s really an exotic hypercar paired with plenty of utility.

And it’s the fastest sports vehicle/SUV on the planet.

It will cost just shy of $400,000, making it one of the most expensive – and luxurious – SUVs in the world.

Ferrari has officially announced that the base price – before any options are added – will start at $398,350.  And Ferrari promises it will be worth the price.

The company has yet to confirm how many orders it has accepted for this new powerful thoroughbred sports vehicle.

But some reports suggest you can expect to wait at least two years for delivery once you are on the waiting list for a Purosangue.

This is, after all, the Ferrari SUV that nobody believed would ever be built.

It’s perhaps the most sought-after four-sea four-door sportscar/SUV on the planet.

What makes this Ferrari four-seater great and worth that $400,000-plus (once all options are included) price tag?

First of all it’s a Ferrari.

The Ferrari Purosangue is the first ever four-door, four-seater car in Ferrari’s history, and it’s also a utility vehicle.

There’s literally nothing else like it on the planet.

A Ferrari down to its bones, the Purosangue is incredibly powerful with handling and performance unrivaled in the world of SUVs.

The Ferrari Purosangue, which is Italian for “pure blood,” also comes in a hybrid version that combines a V8 with an electric motor.

The powerful powerful ICE unit and a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine churn out a mighty 715 horsepower and 528 pound-feet of torque.

Second of all it’s incredibly fast

This beast will take you from zero to 60 in just 3.3 seconds and reach a searing top speed of 193 mph, making it currently the fastest SUV in the world that we know of.

It’s really a sports car that puts its emphasis on comfort and utility. Features include a new suspension system and an eight-speed transmission as well as four-wheel drive available up to 4th gear and 124 mph.

From there it automatically switches to rear-wheel drive.

It’s a gorgeous, low-slung supercar with a graceful long nose front-opening rear doors. You can choose between leather, carbon fiber, and Alcantara trims. There’s also an available tinted glass roof.

Clearly it’s not your typical SUV, even by luxury standards.

The Ferrari Purosangue, which is Italian for “pure blood,” also comes in a hybrid version that combines a V8 with an electric motor.

Two fully electric models are also in development and will hit the market in the next several years.

Ferrari has described the driving experience as astonishing

The all-wheel drive vehicle is not only long and sleek but has a raised ride height that gives it the look of a glamorous GT cruiser rather than just another SUV.

Featuring a long bonnet and swept greenhouse, it’s now being referred to as a Ferrari Utility Vehicle in-house, not a Ferrari SUV.

Inside, you can expect gorgeous leather and real carbon-fiber trim throughout the luxurious interior.  The driver-focused layout has room for four adults and a generous cargo bay. This is definitely not like any SUV you’ve ever driven. And it never will be.

“Now the (future) is here, in all its four-wheel drive, front-engine glory, with more power than any other car in the Crossover segment. Designed to be as aerodynamic as possible, the Purosangue features a raft of innovations, from the latest in vehicle dynamic control systems to the world debut of Ferrari active suspension technology using Multimatic’s True Active Spool Valve (TASV) System,” according to Ferrari.

“One feature of design that’s likely to have everyone talking is the fact that the Purosangue features rear-hinged passenger doors, or welcome doors, crafted in order to allow people to get in and out of the car as smoothly as possible without needing to increase the size of the vehicle. Elsewhere, customers will find the largest boot ever on a Ferrari, heated seats front and back and a Burmester high-end audio system as standard.”
