The 2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT set a new lap record at Laguna Seca.
Considered the “Most powerful series-production Porsche of all time,” the new Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package set the fastest lap record for an electric series-production car at California’s Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca. Porsche test driver Lars Kern achieved a lap time of 1:27.87, surpassing any previous records set by series electric cars.
Kern went on to say: “The track at Laguna Seca pushes the Taycan Turbo GT to the limit. It’s the overall package that makes the difference… The Turbo GT with Weissach Package sets new standards in almost every metric.”
This electric sedan accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.2 seconds, with a top speed of 180 mph. What’s new for the 2025 Taycan Turbo GT?
The 2025 Taycan Turbo GT redefines driving with new power electronics in the powertrain for enhanced dynamic performance. Porsche has significantly enhanced the Taycan lineup, boosting overall system power and introducing a new rear-axle motor for improved dynamic performance.
The Taycan Turbo GT and the Weissach Package edition emerge as the pinnacle of sportiness in the Taycan series, featuring advanced power electronics and a more potent pulse inverter. These models deliver a formidable 777 hp, which can boost up to 1019 hp with Launch Control, and momentarily achieve 1092 hp, pushing the Taycan’s performance to new heights.
Additionally, the pulse inverter, critical for electric motor control in the Taycan Turbo GT models, now uses 900-amp units on the rear axle, offering greater power and torque than the 600-amp versions in the Turbo S. Enhanced with silicon carbide semiconductors, these inverters improve efficiency by minimizing switching losses and allowing higher frequencies. The gearbox has been strengthened for higher torque, maxing out at 1,340 Nm (988 lb-ft), showcasing significant improvements in performance and durability.

The Taycan Turbo GT is outfitted with 21-inch lightweight forged wheels and high-performance summer tires, enhanced by the Porsche Active Ride suspension, specially tuned for the Turbo GT for superior handling. This has a positive effect on both the driving dynamics and performance: reducing the unsprung and rotating masses enhances performance. The brake calipers are painted exclusively in Victory Gold.”

Taycan Turbo GT “Attack Mode”
Activating “Attack Mode” on the Taycan adds 160 hp for 10 seconds at the push of a button. Drawing inspiration from 99X race cars and tailored for track use, it provides a visual boost countdown and animated display in the cockpit, enhancing the driving thrill with a race-like vibe.
“Attack Mode” enhances power by an additional 50 kW and is activated in various ways: Porsche explains, “as an alternative to pressing the mode switch that’s mounted just off to the side of the steering wheel, “Attack Mode” can also be activated and deactivated via the right-hand paddle. This makes the function easier to use on the track. “You can also trigger the boost with racing gloves, and without taking a hand off the wheel,” explains Kern. “With this simple and fast means of operation, the Taycan Turbo GT models are tailored for track use.”

Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package
Porsche has lowered the weight of the Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach Package by up to 157 lbs in comparison to the Taycan Turbo S by using a strategic application of carbon fiber components in the B-pillars, upper shells on the door mirrors, and side skirt inlays. Weight savings are further achieved through a lighter luggage compartment and the removal of the electric soft-close trunk feature, enhancing the vehicle’s overall performance and efficiency.
Aerodynamic enhancements include underbody air deflectors and a new front diffuser. The Weissach Package equips the rear with a fixed carbon fiber wing, supporting up to 485 lbs of downforce, and displays the Weissach logo on its endplates. A distinctive striped wrap in Volt Blue, black, or matte black, emphasizing the motorsport spirit, is available upon request and can be paired with a black decal set. Additionally, 167 lbs have been shaved off by eliminating all equipment not required for track driving.
