It’s official, the Rimac Nevera production starts for U.S. cars after receiving all required certifications.
The Rimac Nevera production starts after the Croatian luxury carmaker acquired all certifications from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
Rimac CEO Mate Rimac recently shared the news on his Facebook page, adding that production of the Nevera electric supercar has begun at its Croatia-based factory.
The automaker showed off what it terms the first production Nevera— aka the “000”— at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this summer.
That car will remain as a demonstration and marketing vehicle for Rimac as the company proceeds with building cars for its eager customers.
The company has not yet announced a delivery date for its cars and says it will let the customers themselves take the lead in sharing that news.
Each Rimac Nevera will be hand-built from start to finish.
About 50 cars per year will be produced, the company founder said. That means it will take about three years to finish building the initial production run of about 150 units.
The first year of production is already sold out with pricing starting at $2.4 million.
All Rimac Neveras will be built at the company’s new assembly facility that was unveiled by Rimac in 2021.
According to the company, each of the 150 cars will take about five weeks to make, with some of the components manufactured months in advance at other Rimac facilities.
The Nevera is the production version of the Rimac C_Two that first made waves when it was unveiled at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. It’s also a successor to the Rimac Concept_One.
It took five years and 1.6 million hours of research and development to get the Nevera off the ground, Rimac said.
Among the hurdles: testing of 18 prototypes, including 45 crash tests.
As the Rimac Nevera production starts, Rimac will now begin developing cars with Bugatti.
The car division of Rimac merged with Bugatti in 2021 to form Bugatti Rimac. Four cars are now in the works as part of that partnership.
“Last documents for US homologation arrived as well (EPA & CARB). Nevera is now EU and the US homologated and ready for delivery,” Rimac said in his announcement.
The Rimac Nevara is the fastest production electric car in the world so far.
It’s been called the Hypercar 2.0.
Capable of exceptional speed, and powerful beyond comprehension, the 2022 Rimac Nevera is named for a mighty storm system and is a force like no other.
Exotic and powerful to the extreme, the fully electric Nevera was designed, engineered, and handcrafted in Croatia, created to outperform in every way. Powered by electric. Driven by technology.
By specializing exclusively in electric performance, Rimac is able to engineer and extract the most extreme performance on the planet. Each of its wheels is independently driven by one dedicated electric motor that channels torque accordingly to give you unprecedented control and agility.
It gives you power where you need it. Instantly. Beneath its skin lies a carbon-fiber monocoque with bonded carbon roof, an integrated structural battery pack, and rear carbon subframe. The structural core is lightweight, powerful, and exceptionally strong.
As the Rimac Nevera production starts, unparalleled performance meets real-time intelligence for an exceptional driving experience that you will never forget. Four electric motors churn out 1.4 megawatts – an incredible 1877 horsepower – and can take you from zero to 60 in a stratospheric 1.85 seconds. And unlike other electric cars, the Nevera gives more than just torque.
The Nevera can also reach a searing top speed of 258 mph on the track, leaving competitors in the dust. Starting at $2.4 million.
