Celebrating 30 years of Ayrton Senna’s Legacy at The Circuit of the Americas
Ayrton Senna is regarded as McLaren’s greatest driver ever, winning three world championships, 41 race wins, and 65 pole positions throughout his lifetime. Senna’s intense driving style, marked by aggressive maneuvers and precise control, has solidified his place as one of F1’s greatest drivers, and his iconic moments in Monaco prove that. He holds the record for the most wins (6 total wins) at the Monaco Grand Prix – known for tight corners, elevation changes, and narrow passages – including winning it five consecutive times. He’s also the only Brazilian who’s ever won at Monaco.
Senna’s performance at the 1993 European Grand Prix continues to be one of his most iconic career moments that has come to be known as “Lap of the Gods,” “He was walking on water,” said Karl Wendlinger. On that rain-soaked April day, Senna delivered a masterclass in precision and control under adverse conditions, solidifying his status as “one of the sport’s best wet-weather racers.” Today, 30 years after his untimely passing, McLaren is offering a one-of-a-kind, once-in-a-lifetime experience commemorating Ayrton Senna’s legacy in the most epic way – the largest Senna gathering ever. What to expect at the McLaren Senna celebration at COTA: Track time, special guests, special McLaren car display, and more!
At the McLaren Senna celebration at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), attendees can look forward to a day packed with thrilling track experiences and expert insights. The event features opportunities for Senna Road Car track experiences, complete with two 20-minute coaching sessions aimed at enhancing driving skills. Senna’s niece and nephew, Bianca and Bruno Senna, alongside McLaren champion and Ayrton’s former teammate, Stefan Johansson, will host this memorable event.
The day also includes exclusive track time, a parade lap, and a special owner-only photo session with all cars on the COTA race track, creating a tangible memory of the experience. Highlighting the event is the legendary MP4/4 race car, which Ayrton Senna drove to victory in 15 out of 16 races. Attendees will witness Bruno Senna take the wheel of the MP4/5 for some exhilarating laps, showcasing the prowess of these historic machines. VIP Hosts Bruno & Bianca Senna at the McLaren Senna celebration
To make Senna’s legacy celebration even more special, some of his family will be present to commemorate him – Bruno and Bianca Senna, nephew and niece of Ayrton Senna.
Ayrton Senna was a big influence in his nephew’s life. Bruno began his motorsport journey in karting before moving up to British Formula 3 and later the GP2 Series, showcasing his talent by winning races in both series. In 2010, Bruno made his Formula One debut with the Hispania Racing Team, later driving for Renault and Williams. After Formula One, Bruno transitioned to endurance racing, competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship and the Le Mans 24 Hours, where he has enjoyed success, including wins and podium finishes. Beyond his racing career, Bruno is actively involved in promoting the legacy of his uncle through the Ayrton Senna Institute and other endeavors.
